Corinne de San Jose

b. 1977, Bacolod, Philippines; lives and works in Manila, Philippines

Corinne de San Jose is a multidisciplinary artist and film sound designer whose practice spans photography, video, and sound. Known for her meticulous, process-driven approach, her work often reflects on the passage of time, perception, and the transformation of identity. Drawing from her extensive experience in cinema, de San Jose brings a heightened sensitivity to sound and silence, which frequently informs the tone and structure of her visual compositions. Her photographic and sound-based pieces examine themes such as gender, memory, and the body, and their relation to space and the tangible and intangible infrastructures that guide communication. Often using repetition and duration, her work invokes subtle shifts in perception, precipitated by the convergence and influence of sound on image and vice versa, to explore how meaning accumulates over time.
