Nicole Wong
b. 1990, Hong Kong; lives and works in Hong Kong.
Nicole Wong’s practice isn’t limited to a single media. Working across film, video, installation, objects, sculpture and other visual media, she is guided by a process-oriented methodology. Wong delves into philosophical themes such as the nature of time, the fragile link between language and materiality, and the challenges and limits of human communication. Her works, often subtle and understated, encourage quiet reflection by resonating with shared human emotions and longings. Through clever use of puns, word-play and a linguistic revelry, she layers meanings and attunes her attention to the space between literal and symbolic interpretations. By incorporating everyday items and familiar materials, she navigates the field of semiotics, probing how the form of a sign relates to its meaning.
